L’Oreal Pure Clay Detox Mask Review

I’m always up for trying new skincare and masks, and I’ve had my eye on the new L’oreal masks for a while now and I’ve finally got my hands on one! In this post I’m going to be reviewing the Pure Clay Detox Mask.

Info

IMG_0609

Above I’ve shown the face mask, it is available at Superdrug for £7.99. It’s a fairly big pot and you get 50ml for the price which I think is good as you only need a thin layer of this. It says on the front ’10 applications’ but I personally think you can get way more uses out of this!

It claims to: For the first time, the L’Oréal Paris laboratories have selected three pure clays and combined them with charcoal, which acts like a magnet to draw out impurities. The creamy texture detoxifies the skin’s surface by cleansing deep into the pores, leaving the skin looking clarified and beautified without drying it out.

Features

Detoxifies
Clarifies
3 pure clays + charcoal

Benefits

A powerful blend of 3 pure clays

Ingredients:

Kaolin – A highly effective natural clay, known to absorb impurities and excess sebum.
Montmorillonite – Rich in minerals, a clay recognised for helping to eliminate imperfections.
Ghassoul – A pure clay highly concentrated in minerals renowned to help clarify complexion.

Review

So I done my normal skincare routine then applied a thin layer of this, as it says only apply a thin layer, and straight away it started to dry. It says to leave it on for 10-15 minutes, so I done just this and I literally couldn’t move any of my face it was that dry! But I didn’t mind this because I think that means it’s working. And this was the outcome:

IMG_0616

As you can see it really dried up around my nose area and it was like it sunk into my pores? But whatever it done, it’s done my skin good. Honestly, never has my skin felt so clean and fresh after a mask. Also, when I removed it my skin was glowing, and my skin always looks oily and not glowing. Charcoal is brilliant for blemished skin, so this is going to be really good when I’m having a breakout!

I’m always up for trying new skincare products as I like to change it up, so I’m looking to try other L’oreal skincare products as I’ve heard nothing but good reviews about them!

Thank you for reading my review on the L’oreal Pure Clay Detox mask! See you soon, Shan xo

Makeup Wishlist

I’m always on Beauty Bay or Boots website looking for new makeup I want to purchase, and the list is getting longer, so I thought I’d share with you what’s on my makeup wishlist!

Zoeva Rose Golden Vol. 2 Luxury Brush Set
ZOEV0125F_2_L

I already own a brush set from Zoeva, and I love them. I’m in need of some new brushes, I need more face brushes and more eyeshadow brushes, so this set is perfect. I already have 2 of the brushes in this set, the 234 (6th one) and 317 (7th one), but it wouldn’t hurt owning doubles. The Zoeva brush sets are brilliant quality for the money, and also you save so much by buying them in a set, this set is priced at £65, working out at around £8.13 per brush. This is really good quality because the face brushes price up at around £15 individually and the eye brushes around £9 individually. It includes the 104 Buffer, 109 Luxe Face Paint, 126 Luxe Cheek Finish, 226 Smudger, 228 Crease, 234 Luxe Smoky Shader, 317 Wing Liner and 322 Brow Line.

Mario Badescu The 50th Anniversary Set

maba0179u_7_l

I’ve had my eye on this set for a while now, and I actually need to purchase it before they discontinue it. It’s only available on Beauty Bay, and at £32 I think this is amazing quality. I’ve heard nothing but good reviews about Mario Badescu skincare so I’m very intrigued to try it out, and I think this is the perfect little set as a starter kit. It includes:

  • Drying Lotion (1 fl oz) – An award-winning spot and whitehead treatment.
  • Silver Powder (0.5 oz) – A blackhead remover.
  • Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater (4 fl oz) – A hydrating and refreshing facial spray.
  • Flower & Tonic Mask (0.5 oz) – A purifying face mask.
  • Enzyme Cleansing Gel (4 fl oz) – An exfoliating face wash.

Juvia’s Place The Nubian Eyeshadow Palette

jupl0003f_1_l

I hadn’t heard much about this brand before everyone started raving about it on YouTube. This palette looks amazing, the shades are perfect for me, and in reviews they look super pigmented and easy to work with. Also, what I like about this brand is that the other palettes they have are really colourful, but wearable. This is £30 for 12 eyeshadows, which I don’t think is bad comparing to the Tarte Tartelette in Bloom palette which is £41 for 12 eyeshadows. Also I LOVE the packaging, it’s so different and beautiful!

Violet Voss Holy Grail Eyeshadow Palette

vivo0066f_1_l

This has been on my makeup wishlist for a while now and I still haven’t purchased it, I will make this a priority! The shades are just stunning and the reviews make it even more buyable. Also, the massive mirror is a bonus! This retails at £40 for 20 eyeshadows, working out at £2 per pan, which I think is really good quality. Also this is perfect for this time of year, it has the perfect shades to create a beautiful berry look!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

836-shape-tape-contour-concealer__DDB_social-11_ALT

I’m in need of a new concealer, but I want a really good one that’s going to brighten my under eye but also conceal my bags, and after watching many reviews on this concealer, it has to be this one, there’s just a few things that are putting me off. Number 1, shipping and custom fees, Tarte do in fact ship to the UK and do free shipping over £40 which is good, but then you’ve got customs on top of that, but I just need to take a risk and order it because I need this in my makeup collection! And number 2, the shade. I’m not 100% on what shade I am, they have a brilliant shade range, but I don’t want to order the wrong shade. It’s very risky ordering base products from the internet, but after a lot of research I may be able to find my shade.

Thank you for reading my makeup wishlist! Shan xo

Favourite Makeup Products for Autumn

When it comes to Autumn I tend to switch up my makeup, I use more berry tones on the eyes and lips, and a more natural looking bronzer. So in today’s post I’m going to share with you my favourite makeup products I use in the Autumn.

As you can see, there are a lot of warm tones in these pictures, which are my favourite kind of colours to use on the eyes and lips.

Morphe 35O

This palette is warm tone central, minus a few cool toned browns, but this is PERFECT for Autumn! There’s plenty of matte shades for smokey eyes, but also a good amount of shimmer shades for the lid. They’re so pigmented, easy to blend and you can create endless amounts of looks with this palette. At £22.50, 35 shades is brilliant quality, that’s 64p per eyeshadow pan.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance

This is Autumn in a palette. It’s a very warm toned palette so it’s perfect, the beautiful berry tones are amazing to use in the Autumn time! So many looks can be created with this palette, whether it be an all over berry look, classic gold look or a simple champagne on the lid, this is the palette for it. I rave about this palette so much on my blog, so if you’re looking for a new warm toned palette, this is definitely worth the money!

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer

I’ve had this for years and I love it, I always seem to go back to this bronzer. Mines in the shade 03, it’s the perfect shade for my pale skin, not too warm and not too cool toned which is amazing for this time of year. In the autumn / winter I don’t aim for a bronzed look, so I always use this bronzer as it’s the perfect shade.

Sleek Blush – Rose Gold

I originally bought this because I saw it on Pinterest as a dupe for the Nars Orgasm blush, so I had to get it and try it. I’m not a blush wearer, but when I do I tend to reach for my coral blushes including this one. The thing I like about this blusher is the gold sheen it gives off, it looks beautiful on the cheeks.

MAC Eyeshadow – Mythology

This is the only MAC shadow I like and use, I’ve owned it for years now and it’s the perfect shade for the lid if you want a copper eye look. It adds a beautiful shimmer to the lid, and this shade would make blue eyes pop!

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish – Soft & Gentle

Throughout the summer I’ve been using my Mary Lou as it’s more of a champagne gold, but in the autumn / winter I prefer a more natural glow, and this highlighter is perfect for it. It can be used as a subtle glow, or it can be built up to a blinding highlight, which I love.

NYX Liquid Suede – Vintage

I have recently bought this, and I am in love with the shade! I have other shades in this formula so I know it’s good, and this is the perfect deep berry shade for the autumn. The formula is brilliant, it lasts all day and it doesn’t dry right down, so it won’t dry your lips as much. I’m going to get a lot of wear out of this in the autumn / winter!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – London

This is my go to lipstick all year round, but obviously I’m not going to be wearing a berry lip everyday so a nude lip is a great alternative. This is a beautiful warm toned nude, so it’s perfect for the colder months! Also, I love the formula, it doesn’t feel like a liquid lipstick so it isn’t as drying.

MAC Lipstick – Diva

This is very similar to the NYX Liquid Suede – Vintage, but in a lipstick version. Again, it’s the perfect shade for this time of year, that deep berry shade. It has a matte finish, so it lasts all day but it isn’t drying, I find MAC matte lipsticks very comfortable to wear and not drying on the lips.

What are your favourite products to use in the Autumn?

My High End Makeup Favourites

Sometimes I like to splurge on more luxury products, I don’t have a lot of high end makeup, but the products I have I love and use most of the time. In today’s post I’m going to be sharing with you my favourite high end makeup products.

DSC_0378

Here are the products, I tend to use most of these products on a daily basis. Products included:

Benefit Hoola & Rockateur

I love Benefit’s boxed products, the packaging is beautiful and the actual product itself never fails to disappoint. Hoola is my go-to bronzer, I use this to contour every day and I haven’t found another product that compares, they’re definitely worth the money! Now I’m not a massive blush wearer, but this blush is stunning. It’s a beautiful shimmery coral colour, a perfect blush if you just want a subtle colour on the cheeks. I want to get my hands on the Cheek Parade palette, it includes the new Hoola Lite and Galifornia, and it’s brilliant quality for the price!

Nars Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

I have very oily eyelids, and this is honestly the only thing that keeps eyeshadow on my lids without it creasing or disappearing. It’s a white consistency but dries down clear, it’s super tacky so the eyeshadow sticks and stays! I only tend to apply this on my actual lid area and not the crease, otherwise it’s very hard to blend the shadows out in the crease. If you have oily lids and you’re struggling to find something that works, try this!

YSL Faux Cils Mascara

I can’t get enough of this mascara. When I first got this mascara I didn’t like it because it was really wet and there was so much product on the wand so it was really messy to work with. So I left it a few months to dry out, and now it’s perfect. Although you have to be very careful as it’s quite messy, but it’s worth it. This mascara adds so much volume, length and thickness. Also, let’s take a moment for the packaging? BEAUTIFUL.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

I need to buy a full version of this ASAP. This has been my go-to primer at the moment, it’s perfect to use in the t-zone to keep my oily areas under control. They have different primers for different skin types, including colour correcting and pore minimizing. It really does mattify the skin and keeps my makeup looking fresh all day.

Tarte Tartelette in Bloom

I LOVE this palette, I’ve mentioned it so many times on my blog, but I can’t get enough of it. The shades are perfect and right up my street. They are so easy to work with, really blendable and the shades are so pigmented, it’s definitely worth the splurge. My favourite shades have to be Rebel and Firecracker. Okay, now let’s talk about the packaging, UNREAL, and also the mirror?! Perfect to travel with.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade

For my brows I will happily spend a bit more to ensure the products I’m using are good. I tend to use this for the tale of my brows, then the Brow Wiz at the start of my brow. Mines in the shade Dark Brown and it matches perfectly, it’s super easy to work with and makes your brows look sharp! My Brow Wiz is in the shade Soft Brown so it’s lighter to use at the start of my brow.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick – Dusty Rose

I love a nude lip colour, so this is different for me, it’s a beautiful deep pink shade, but very wearable. The formula of this is so good, it’s so pigmented, it lasts all day and it’s not that drying, however after wearing it all day my lips do look cracked, but that’s normal with any liquid lipstick. Also the shade range is amazing, they have the perfect nudes.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick – Celebrity Skin

This is my go-to nude if I want it to last through anything, eating, drinking, talking, anything! It dries down to a matte finish, it lasts all day and it’s very pigmented. Also at £16 I don’t think this is a bad price for a high end liquid lipstick. Again, the shade range is amazing, including blues, greens, whites and many more.

MAC Lipsticks

I always go back to these, there’s nothing like Velvet Teddy or Ruby Woo. I prefer the matte finish, it lasts a long time, very pigmented and it doesn’t dry the lips even though it’s a matte finish. My favourite shades are Brave, Velvet Teddy and Verve.

MAC Lip Liners

Again, there’s nothing like MAC lip liners. They’re so good to line the lips, overlining or not. They are really easy to work with, and they last all day! My favourite shades are Soar and Spice. Soar is beautiful paired with Brave lipstick and Spice is the perfect nude to overline the lips.

What are your favourite high end makeup products?

Anti Haul

I’ve seen these posts so much recently, so I thought I’d give it a go. There’s a few products that have been released lately that haven’t really interested me, or the reviews aren’t good, so that’s what I’m going to be sharing with you today, makeup products that I won’t be buying. I have nothing against these brands, these products just don’t interest me.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette

DFHIV6iVwAA0RTk

When this palette was first announced I loved the shades, they’re very different and not like anything I’ve seen before, at first I was very intrigued. However, when I saw reviews about this palette I avoided it, I wasn’t wasting £41 on a palette that’s powdery and hard to work with. The packaging is beautiful and I love the colours, but I won’t be purchasing this anytime soon.

KKW Creme Contour and Highlight Kit

Kim-Kardashians-KKW-Beauty-is-Launching-Creme-Contour-Kits-12

Any American brand doesn’t really appeal to me because of shipping and fees, unless it’s available on Beauty Bay or Cult Beauty. But this product definitely doesn’t interest me, after watching reviews it doesn’t look any good. The reviews I’ve watched show how creamy it is, leading it to blend into nothing, and because it comes with barely any product, this doesn’t seem practical. At $48 (around £36) it seems good because you’re getting 3 products, but the small amount of product included makes this very expensive for what it is. Shani Grimmond’s review on YouTube really shows how they literally don’t work and are not worth the money, here’s her video:

MAC Eyeshadow Palettes

072417-mac-palette-lead

MAC doesn’t seem to excite me anymore, whereas a year ago I was going mad collecting MAC lipsticks, I just think there’s much better brands on the market now for much cheaper. I own 2 MAC eyeshadow palettes, and I don’t reach for them at all, I actually sold one as I paid £65 for it and I never touched it. So these don’t excite me and I won’t be purchasing them, at £32 you can get much better palettes, e.g. Morphe, Zoeva, Makeup Revolution and Juvia’s Place.

Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette

Desert-Dusk-1

Don’t get me wrong, these shades look beautiful, but I feel now a days all eyeshadow palettes look the same. I have very similar eyeshadows in my Morphe 35O palette and ABH Modern Renaissance palette, so I don’t think it’s worth the money when I have the same shades in another palette. Also, after watching Michael Finch’s video, it doesn’t seem to be the same as her previous palette, although I’ve haven’t tried neither of them so I wouldn’t know. I think this palette is going to be the same as the ABH Subculture palette, some people love it, some people hate it. Here’s Michael’s video:

Hello my lovelies, so this is a very random and quick post, but I just wanted to say a massive thank you for 50 followers! I started my blog in August, so in 2 months I’m super happy with my achievement! My fear has always been no one recognising my blog posts that I write, but starting this blog has proved me wrong and people do actually take the time to read my posts, like them and give me feedback which is the best feeling after having so much doubt with it all.

My goals are to carry on as I am, creating blog posts I enjoy to write, giving my honest opinion with products, searching for new bloggers to follow and interact with other bloggers by commenting on their posts.

I also just wanted to mention quickly in this post I’ve recently started a full time job which is obviously taking up a lot of my time, but don’t you worry I’m still making time for my blog! I have 2 days off a week so I plan on spending at least 1 of these days strictly on my blog. Once I get used to having a full time job I will be able to balance my time a lot better, meaning I won’t completely abandon my blog (like I did for the first week of my new job), this is the last thing I want to do as I’m enjoying it so much!

Again, thank you so much for 50 followers! Here’s to the next 50 followers 🎊

My Drugstore Makeup Favourites

I’m more of a drugstore kind of gal when it comes to makeup, but I also like to splurge on some high end products. In today’s post I’m going to share with you my favourite drugstore makeup products!

These products have been a staple in my makeup collection and I use them on a daily basis. Products included:

Revlon ColorStay Foundation

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect drugstore foundation, and I’ve finally found it. I have oily skin so I was looking for a matte finish but with good coverage so it could cover my blemishes, this honestly does these things and more. They have a brilliant shade range, mines in the shade Buff, they have different finishes for different skin types, it has brilliant coverage and it doesn’t look cakey. Usually with any other foundation I can’t wait to get it off because my oily skin can take over and make my skin look disgusting, but with this foundation I will happily wear it all day as it’s so comfortable and doesn’t look horrible on my skin. If you’re searching for a new foundation, check this one out!

e.l.f Bronzer and Blush Duo – Fiji

Superdrug have recently started stocking e.l.f which is brilliant, so I got my hands on this as I’ve heard really good reviews about it and it’s a dupe of the Nars one! These colours are perfect for my pale skin, the bronzer can be used as a contour or a bronzer, personally I use it as a bronzer and sometimes with a light hand, to contour, as it’s quite pigmented. The blush is a beautiful matte coral shade, again really pigmented. This is so handy to have as it’s easy to travel with, also the packaging is BEAUT.

L’oreal Brow Artist Plumper

I’ve used this for years, and honestly it’s the best brow set I’ve ever used. The thing I like is that the spoolie is tiny, but the actual wand is long so it’s really easy to use. It really pushes the brows up and makes them look thicker, also it lasts all day which is a bonus! Mines in the shade Dark Medium / Dark and it matches perfectly to the colour of my brows!

NYX Liquid Suede

I think this is my favourite formula of liquid lipstick, it doesn’t dry completely, therefore it doesn’t make your lips feel like the Sahara desert, however it still lasts all day! The shade range is amazing, including blues, purples, nudes, deep plums, reds and so on, if you need a wacky colour, look in this shade range! I have the shades Sandstorm and Vintage. Sandstorm is my go-to nude, it’s the perfect brown nude and it’s very wearable! Vintage is the perfect shade for this time of year, a beautiful deep plum shade, it’s very similar to MAC Diva.

Primark Lip Liner – Toffee

Primark makeup has been all over YouTube recently with reviews and try-ons. I bought 2 products from the makeup section when they first released it all, and this lip liner is one of my favourites. It’s in the shade ‘Toffee’ and it’s the perfect warm toned nude, perfect for over lining the lips. It’s so creamy and pigmented, and I think it’s around £1, which is amazing!

Makeup Revolution Cream Contour Palette

I don’t usually cream contour, so I only have this affordable one from Makeup Revolution, and it does it’s job. The shades are perfect, I don’t tend the use the highlighting shades as much, only the contouring / bronzing shades. They’re super pigmented and easy to work with! Definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a cream contour palette but don’t want to spend a lot of money.

Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette

I know this technically isn’t drugstore, but it’s still cheap for an eyeshadow palette with so many eyeshadow pans! I can’t recommend Morphe eyeshadows enough, they’re so pigmented, they blend beautifully and there are so many different palettes available so there’s colours for everyone! They price at £22.50 for 35 shades which is a brilliant price for such good quality eyeshadows.
